Kisii county senator Sam K Ongeri has vowed to deliver Raila presidency from Kisii.
Speaking from Nyakoe Kisii on Wednesday 22nd, during the opening of ODM Kisii branch, Prof. Sam Ongeri said that they will not tire till the race to the statehouse is complete. Ongeri, who has never been out of government for over forty years, took that opportunity to rally his bid for Kisii county gubernatorial seat in an effort to succeed Governor James Ongwae whose second term is coming to an end in 2022.
According to prof Sam K Ongeri, Governor James Ongwae has done his part and now it is the right time for him to represent the Omogusii community in national politics. In that sense, prof. Sam Ongeri argues that the ODM fraternity should support his bid to become the next governor despite having similar interests with the Kisii county women representative Janet Ong’era who is also eying the same seat.
Critics of prof. Ongeri have it that Kisii County will experience incompetence of the highest order if Ongeri manages to scoop the gubernatorial seat citing that at the age of 89 years one is supposed to retire from active politics and take an upper role of insightfully guiding the Omogusii community in making informed decisions in the political arena.
Also present was the Kisii county Governor James Ongwae who declared that Kisii will be the first beneficially of Raila presidency and that they were working around the clock to deliver Raila presidency from Kisii. Also in that meeting that was held at Nyakoe, those who wished to defect to ODM were allowed to do so under set rules and guidelines but shall include everybody in what Kisii county women representative said ‘we shall gather everybody and scatter none’
The ODM Part Kenya is set to open several other branches in Kisii on a campaign to ensure Raila presidency come 2022. Members of the public were also urged to register as ODM life members as the registration kicks off from the 4th of October this year.
