For the last seven years, H. E Gov. John Nyagarama has strived to improve our healthcare system across Nyamira County. With no Sh 500 million annual grants for our Level 5 hospital, the County Government has always ensured the main hospital is properly equipped to deal with emergencies.

This is the aerial view of NCRH within Nyamira town. Since 2013, the hospital has been fitted with own oxygen-generating plant which also helps neighboring counties. The Hospital has three new theaters courtesy of local and international partners which are operational. At the inception of devolved units, the county had only one poorly maintained theater.

The dark-green building is the Hospital’s  new Doctors Plaza which will host medics besides having the Amenity Wing. But in coming weeks, the building will host critical COVID-19 patients. The health department is fitting it with over 300 beds in compliance with directives issued by H. E Uhuru Kenyatta.

So far, with their existing ICU beds and main isolation unit within the hospital, the department has managed to handle five COVID-19 cases. They also have additional isolation units at Bombagi Health center and Igena Itambe in Bosamaro Award.

Their mission is to serve residents without prejudices and our medical team has always strived to implement that. The department is also doing 30-bed in-patient blocks which are underway in all our five sub counties. They have also equipped more than 110 health centers across the county with relevant equipment and personnel.
