Maangi summoned to record statement over assault allegations, terms it as political witch hunt

Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi on Monday was summoned by the police to record a statement at Kisii Central police station tomorrow Tuesday over assault allegations.

Addressing the media at his residential home, Maangi said he is accused of assaulting one of his female Domestic workers, the allegation he has termed as pure fabrications.

“I was summoned by the Police to appear at the Police tomorrow to answer to allegations that I assaulted one of my domestic workers. The allegation which is not true, It’s a pure fabrication but because I am a law-abiding Citizen I will be there tomorrow,” Said Maangi.

Maangi has been on the front line in condemning Kisii leaders who he said are hiding behind Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiang’i to avid EACC arrest.

He has assured Kisii residents that he will never be shaken by stage-maned political witch hunts meant to silence his 2022 political ambition.

“Am not shaken by these fabrications. I am strong and am on the race whether they like it or not. You know me very well and my stand. This is Just a passing wind. The truth will shame them,’ Said Maangi.

In January 2020, his office cars were withdrawn under unclear circumstances, His security withdrawn and office staff allied to him were transferred to various sub-counties.

Maangi who has received overwhelming support from residents is set to contest for the Kisii Gubernatorial seat to succeed the outgoing Kisii Governor James Ongwae.
