4 years down, Kisii still yearning for Ongwae’s non-existing 12 Billion city

“I have signed an MoU” is Kisii Governor James Ongwae’s slogan since devolution. Its Four years down the line with only two years to end his term, Kisii still is waiting to receive the new city worth 12 Billion.

Below is Ongwae’s Post on Facebook in 2016, a project which has never commenced.

“I have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a Chinese firm; Boleyn Magic Wall Panel to allow the firm invest Sh 12 billion to build Kisii New City. This follows the inaugural Kisii Entrepreneurship Summit, KES 2016.

In the project, Boleyn Magic Wall Panel Limited will construct 2,000 units of houses to meet the housing demand for public servants and the general public in Kisii County. The New City will include residence, bank buildings, office buildings, shopping mall, kindergarten, schools and a health centre as well as a city hall.

Boleyn Magic’s Managing Director Jack Liu signed the MoU on behalf of the firm .The firm will set up one pre-cast plant in Kisii County , train 1,000 youths and women for employment in the first year. The plant will serve 13 Counties in the Lake Region Economic Bloc”
