Police in Kisii have dismissed news reports that they arrested 15 villagers who turned up in Kisii Graduation Ceremony by hearse leading to the collapse of a female graduand on Friday.
The viral reports alleged that Ephie Moraa from Suneka in Bonchari who was graduating was hospitalized in unmentioned Hospital after 15 of his villagers arrived at her graduation ceremony by hearse.
The news further alleged that the 15 were arrested and detained in Kisii at unmentioned police station for interrogation, reports that Kisii Police have dismissed.
“I have spoken to Kisii central OCS responsible for security at the university and there is no such case in Police. Nobody has been arrested during the peacefully attended graduation ceremony. We cannot substantiate the claims,” Kisii Police commander Martin Kibet told the Daily Clock on Phone.
“Ephie Moraa has been hospitalized moments after she fainted at Kisii University. At 8:22 am on Friday, the graduand is reported to have lost her consciousness after 15 people arrived at her graduation ceremony by a hearse. It is reported that the 24-year-old went silent for a few seconds, became dizzy, stumbled and fell on the ground moments after the arrival of her villagers” Read part of the Report.
