After heated pressure from the Public and local leaders, the Marani DCIO George Mwololo on Friday was sent on leave.
On Wednesday this week, residents accused Mwololo of being a close ally to Morara Oroba who was accused of brutally beating, Killing and burying his wife in a used Pit Latrine.
On Friday, angry mob stormed the Rioma Police station and demanded the officer be transferred with immediate effect for he may interfere with the investigation process.
“The DCIO is a close friend to the suspect. They eat together. We want the Kisii County Commissioner to transfer him from Marani or else we will take the law into our hands. If the Rioma Police is unable to offer security to residents let it be closed down,” Said Elijah Kombo.
Head of CID Kisii County, Deputy Police Commander Caleb Matoke and Sensi ward MCA Paul Angwenyi intervened to calm the Public.
The DCIO Marani was sent on leave and the case transferred to DCIO Gesonso in Kisii town for further probe.
“We want the DCIO be investigated and face further action. Reports say on Sunday the week Jesicah was Killed, the suspect and the officer were seen together at Rioma market eating and later closely holding hands. We will not accept more Killings again,” Said Paul Angwenyi.
Caleb Matoke the Deputy County Police Commander has urged residents to be calm as the Police carry out their intensive investigation.
