Veteran Gusii artists have come out to oppose the much hyped fundraising set to be held on Sunday by Deputy President William Ruto in Kisii.
The circulating posters indicate that Ruto who has been invited by Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi is set to help the purported artists build a modern studio.
Information in the public domain says the fundraising has been organized by all artists from Kisii which they have now said they are not aware of.
On Saturday the Artists told the media that section of Ruto allied Politicians are using their name to swindle funds from the Deputy President.
“We are shocked to hear that Deputy President is coming to Kisii to fund raise for artists. The Artists we lead over 400 are not represented. We want to firmly say that we don’t know that fundraising and we are not involved in any way. Ruto you come and fund raise but know you have been wrongly used,” Said Henry Sagero alias Man Pepe.
“On behalf of all veteran Artists from Gusii and those upcoming we are mentoring, our name has been wrongly used. We don’t want people to use us to enrich themselves. The Deputy President Must know the fundraising he has been invited on Sunday we are not aware about and we were not involved,” Said Kwasa Kwasa.
The Artists have further accused the organizers of using their name to fund raise for ghost artists who do not exist physically on records.
