Road maintenance without a proper drainage system can only be a waste of time and resources.
Monday the Nairobi City County Government engineers were on the process of placing old covers/lids of manholes for easy access of both sewer lines and drainage system along Ojijo road and construction of public walk ways.
The City Governor Mike Sonko has pledged to improve the state of Nairobi City roads adding that he is committed to ensure he has fulfilled the promise he made to Nairobians.
“I have noted with great concern that our economy needs reliable infrastructure to connect supply chains and efficiently move goods and services and links producers to markets, workers to jobs, students to schools, and the sick to hospitals, roads are vital to any development agenda,” He said.
According to Sonko, Good roads and infrastructure largely improve road safety.
He added that the Ongoing painting of road markings on Uhuru Highway and other major streets in Nairobi City will help reduce road accidents.
“Well marked roads normally help to ease traffic jams by making it easy for free flow of traffic and they also help to reduce road accidents on our roads,”
“My administration is determined to ensure high cases of road accidents are reduced through better maintenance of our city roads,” He said.
