The direct non stop historic flight from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi to New York City in the United Sates Of America finally came to pass yesterday after a lengthy wait.
Kenya Did not give up despite making multiple trials to be awarded Category one which could enable them start flying directly to New York City.
In June 2009 the United States department of Homeland Security cancelled any inaugural of Direct flights from Atlanta Georgia to Nairobi citing insecurity a move that set a huge blow to Kenya.
In 2013 Kenya took another try and applied to be considered as category one Country however the application was again rejected but Kenya did not give up in their dream.
A second Audit was carried out in 2014 where the United States Authority cited several noncompliance issues with the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
Among the raised non compliance issues were Lack of separate arrivals and departures, Close Proximity of the houses to flight paths and Lack of perimeter fence around the Airport.
Kenya did not still give up. in 2015 President Uhuru Kenyatta launched Multiple talks with the US president Barrack Obama and later Donald Trump, Kenya got all things set and was awarded Category one in February 2017 by the US Federal Aviation administration.
In September 2017 Kenya Airways was given a permit to operate the flights. The new Historic flight will now cut hour of travel to 15 and will see tourism sector increase.
