Nairobi City County Government on Tuesday donated foodstuffs from 2018 Nairobi International Trade Fair demonstration farms to various children’s homes in the city to mark the World Food Day celebrations today themed “Our actions are our future. A zero hunger world by 2030 is possible”
The foodstuff included the various vegetables which were planted at the show ground to educate show-goers on the latest agriculture and food technologies. Cooking oils,ugali flour,meat and other foodstuffs were also donated.
The event was spearheaded by the County Chief officer for Food, Agriculture& Forestry Dr. Washington Makondingo accompanied by the sector Directors.
Dr. Makondingo promised that the County will install a green house at the Makadara Children’s Centre which houses 160 rehabilitated street children to enable them have access to enough food.
Makadara Children’s Centre,Blessings Children’s Home and Kayole Girls Rehabilitation centre were the beneficiaries of today’s donations.
While receiving the foodstuffs,Makadara Children’s Centre Manager Mr. David Arika appreciated the support of the County saying that it’s food that keeps the children at the centre.
