Kisii county women representative Janet Ongera has said that they will not allow the Government to touch any money allocated for National affirmative Action Fund and NG- CDF money as it was proposed by President Uhuru Kenyatta after rejecting the Finance Bill.
According to Janet Ongera who was Speaking in South Mugirango when handing over affirmative action funds Cheque to various women groups, she said that if the Government is going to touch Ksh. 2 billion allocated for the funds it will affect women ,youths and People with disabilities in the grassroots level.
“You gave as the allocations so that it can help people in grassroots level and when you want to take ,it means our women, youths and people with disabilities are going to be affected,”
“We call upon the Government through the ministry of finance to look ways on how to bridge the gap without touching affirmative and CDF funds,” Janet said
Mama county added that they are not going to allow the government to reduce the funds meant for development at the grass roots but insisting that the government needs to increase Affirmative funds, not reducing them,
“If the recommendations include a reduction in the Affirmative fund, NG-CDF and Last Mile connectivity funds, we will not support them since we already refused the it and we made up our mind ,also we will refuse it since its affecting the living cost of Mwanachi,” She said
