Kisii police officers have impounded seven sacks of bhang along Kisii Nyamira border suspected to come from neighboring county.
It is believed the bhang was being ferried from Migori county to a house in Keumbu area for storage.
A motor vehicle registration number KCM 431D toyota probox believed to have ferried the same earlier before offloading was intercepted and the driver fled.
Speaking to the press, Kisii Central OCPD Francis Nguli said they received a tip off from the public before nabbing the bhang and the probox.
The OCPD said they found that Bhang in one of the incomplete house.
“Seven sacks of bhang weighing about 90 Kgs each which was stored in a newly constructed house yet to be occupied was recovered ,” said Nguli.
Mr Nguli said one of the suspect who was found in the compound of the house was arrested and is in police custody for interrogation.
The haul of bhang is estimated to value Kshs. 700,000/.
He added that Kisii is used as an exit way from other places to transport bhang.
The officers have launched investigation to arrest a driver who escaped .
He cautioned the bhang traffickers to cease from being in possession of it if found will be arrested and charged in court .
“We shall not leave any stone unturned, ” he said.
He urged the public to work hand in hand with the police officers to tip off such information.
“The fight against bhang and other illicit brew needs cooperation between police officers and the public,” he said.
