People’s democratic party leader Omingo Maraga has called President Uhuru Kenyatta to sign the amendment bill in aid of helping the unnecessary burden which has been created by 16% Vat tax to common Mwanachi by challenging the Members of parliament to stop being hypocritical since they knew this before.
According to Magara it’s quite unfortunate that the Government wants to raise money from poor Kenyans.
“We are aware that the Government needs resources for its development agenda but it cannot do that by extracting the last drop of blood from poor citizens who already been burdened,” Magara said.
“By this I mean that you cannot expect fly to donate blood since it does not have unless you want to kill it, therefore I call upon the President to sigh that bill which was amended into law,” he added.
Magara who was addressing the Media at Kisii town on Tuesday after having a meeting with party delegates , accused the members of parliament for being hypocritical for coming late to defend the common Mwanachi when they had an opportunity to interrogate and intersect the budget before it goes to final stages.
“How comes that the MPS are realizing late at the eleventh hour that the animal called taxing the poor was in the budget, that tells you that someone was sleeping at their job or they were hypocritical” Noted Magara
He added that the MPs should be responsible of the matter because they should have known it early since they have all the time more so the committee of parliament budget appropriation that does the interrogation of the budget from the information.
“Its during this time of information the Government were to be guided on how to get other ways of getting resources rather than taxing the innocent poor people to kerosene, diesel Petrol which does not make any basic sense,”
Magara said that its time the President needs to come out and salvage the nation from pain since there is several issues where the Government can raise money by tightening the war against corrupt people and save billions of money.
“The president whom I support in the fight against corruption can actual impose positivity measures by cutting wastage in government expenditure both revenue and capital,”
The PDP leader for instance noted that there is unnecessary foreign trips by heads of state of government , cabinet secretaries among other government officials were they spend more than 70 % of their time travelling even when we have situations where we can use foreign embassy to represent the government and exhibitions as opposed to current delegation.
“Why can a minister real carry 40 people to a delegation that has no any economic sense” Questioned Magara
Other issues Magara raise which can cut the burden of Kenyans is reducing the number of vehicles used by the Government officials which has no meaning to common mwanachi.
He added that you can get the offices of the Ministers being decolleted with flowers which fade out and being disposed off by the cost of 10 million per a year which has no value to the country in large.
“The Government needs to correct its self by imposing the taxes or government wastage more so in fighting corruption”
At the same time he warned those people who are politicizing the fight against corruption.
“It annoys me when you find some leaders representing some people in court in the name of solidarity and start politicking the fight against corruption, we don’t diversion tactics and as PDP we support the g]fight against corruption and the culprits should be brought to book .
