Kisii Minister for Agriculture Osman released on Ksh 5,000 fine over traffic offense

Minister for Agriculture Osman Onsarigo has been released on a fine of Ksh 5000 at Kisii law court for driving a vehicle without an insurance cover.

According to the charge sheet, on 5/9/2018 the accused person was driving a vehicle Toyota Prado along Kisii -Kilgoris road without insurance cover which is a traffic offense.

The accused person pleaded guilty before senior resident magistrate SK Onjoro.

In his mitigation the accused person said that he got an emergency information late and opted to pick one of his vehicle without checking of the insurance cover.

He said that when he arrived at the road block ,the traffic police officers stopped him , that is when he realized that the insurance had expired.

“When I asked my driver he said that he has made arrangement to make a renewal, am sorry,” he said.

According to the state counsel the accused had the insurance cover but it had already been expired.

She also stated that the license had expired on 2/9/2018

Traffic police officers led by base commander Erick Githinji have launched patrol to impound unroadworthy vehicles.
