Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu has highly opposed the ongoing demolition of buildings structured on riparian land terming it as the most jaw dropping ides ever.
Speaking at Presbyterian Church on Sunday in Gikambura, Kiambu County, Waititu said demolishing structures built close to rivers is not a solution and the rivers should be moved instead.
He urged Owners of the buildings set to be demolished to incur the cost of moving the rivers away from their structures.
“I don’t support the issue of demolitions. If your building is close to a river, you should incur the costs of having the river moved a little further,” He said.
The Governor said this is a big loss.
“But demolishing a building is not the solution. Honestly speaking its such a big loss,” He said.
He further said he has great history about Nairobi County because he was once the Deputy governor for Nairobi.
“For those people who have Nairobi history its me because i was once The deputy Governor for Nairobi,” He added.
