Emmerson Mnangagwa the newly elected president of Zimbabwe had to celebrate his Youths international day In style far from his comfort zone down to the youths on Sunday.
The President who was spoted having his time with some youths in an open field said his government has a role to empower and support young people thorough providing diverse educational and employment opportunities.
“I am confident about our future because I believe in the talent, creativity and potential of our youth. As government, it is our role to empower and support you through providing diverse educational and employment opportunities. We must open the doors for you to fulfill your vast potential, and over the next five years, that is exactly what we will do,” He said.
He said it is only by empowering the youth that the new Zimbabwe will be built.
International Youth Day (IYD) is an awareness day designated by the United Nations. The purpose of the day is to draw attention to a given set of cultural and legal issues surrounding youth.
12th August was first designated International Youth Day by the UN General Assembly in 1999, and serves as an annual celebration of the role of young women and men as essential partners in change, and an opportunity to raise awareness of challenges and problems facing the world’s youth.
There are currently 1.8 billion young people between the ages of 10 and 24 in the world.
