Court of appeal in Sudan has dismissed Death sentence case against a woman who killed her husband for what is alleged that the man raped her, her lawyer says.
Her lawyer Abdelaha Mohamad said the 19 year old Noura Hussein instead has been jailed for 5 years.
Her mother Zainab Ahmed said she is happy that the life of her daughter has been spared.
Last month an Islamic court had sentenced her to death after she admitted killing her husband Abdulrahman Mohamed Hammad.
Miss Hussein told the court that the man used her in-laws who she claimed held her tight as the man raped her.
She says the following day when the man tried to rape her again for the second time, She grabbed a knife and stabbed him to death.
Miss Hussein was forced to marry him at the age of 16. His husband was 16 years older than her.
After killing her husband, Miss Hussein escaped to her biological parents to report the horrible incident.
Her father moved his entire family to a nearby police station for fear of their lives where he was arrested.
