South Nyanza Region NACADA Coordinator Ms Esther Okenye has urged all stakeholders to fight alcohol and drugs abuse in the region.
The National Authority for the Campaign Against Drug Abuse (NACADA ) has asked all the stakeholders , government agencies and youths to spearhead in fighting alcohol and drug substance abuse.
Speaking at Nyamarambe Hall during the public engagement forum NACADA coordinator Ms Easter Okenye said collaboration will enable the government to fight the menace.
“To fight alcohol and drug abuse we need the support to succeed,”said Ms Okenye.
She also added that they want to ensure they succeed in ending illicit brew in all villages.
She stated , youths should come out and join hands to ensure society is a free alcohol and drug abuse.
She also noted that they have partnered with the community based organizations to seek their support on how to mark the country to be free from alcohol and drugs abuse.
She also advised youths to form groups that will be supporting NACADA to move to grassroots and sensitize the public on the effect of drugs.
She asked the residents to engage in agricultural farming and meaningful business as a source of income.
“Instead of investing in illicit brew let our youths register in groups to apply for the funds ,” Ms Okenye said.
On the other hand Treatment and Rehabilitation Manager Judith Twala said that NHIF is of more important to cater for expenses on those who are under care of at Rehabilitation centers.
Judith has challenged those who don’t have NHIF cards to put more effort in acquiring the cards to benefit.
