Kisii County CEC for Administration Edinah Kangwana has asked Police in Marani Sub-county, Kisii County to fish out and arrest a 50-year-old Father who allegedly defiled his 4-year-old daughter on a rainy Sunday evening.

Kangwana a human rights defender who was joined by other activists at Kenyoro Village where the incident happened told journalists on Tuesday that it’s saddening the suspect is still walking scot-free.

“The family had staged an allegation that the girl was hit by a sharp nail while playing with other kids at a nearby coffee factory. After laid structures from the County government, the medical report done at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital revealed that indeed the girl was defiled,” Said Edinah.

“The County Government has laid structures to sub-county level on how to identify and report such cases through formed WhatsApp groups. We ask the Police to move with speed and arrest the suspect. We call on our people to be vigilant and cease from hiding such acts,” She added.

Doris Moraa a neighbor said she saw the young girl walking up to their home in a bloody dress from behind, after interrogating her she claimed she had been hit by a sharp nail while playing.

“I saw the girl walking up past my house. Looking at her I saw a bloody dress and I immediately ran to find out. She told me she had been hit by a nail. A few minutes later her father followed her up from the bush, I asked him what was going on, he too said the girl was hit by a sharp nail,” Said Doris.

Joseph Mirugi a father to the suspect said he met his granddaughter bleeding on her way home. After interrogating her, she said she had been hit by a sharp nail.

After heated pressure from the community, the mother resolved to take the girl to Marani Hospital for treatment. The case was transferred to KTRH where a medical report confirmed that indeed it was a defilement incident.

The Marani Deputy County Commission  David Saruni confirmed the incident and vowed to search and fish out the suspect as soon as possible.

“We have reports that the suspect has been threatening the wife not to disclose this matter. The Mother is a second wife who was married after the death of the first wife. She came in with the defiled daughter. We will make sure he is arrested to face charges as per the law,” He said.
