38 teenagers were on Saturday afternoon arrested by Police officers taking Chag’aa and engaging in sex at Ogembo town in Kisii county.
According to the Kisii County Police Commander Jebel Munene, 34 were boys, 4 were girls and all are aged between 14-20 years.
In the room where they were allegedly holding a bash were 14 used condoms and several new unused ones.
Munene has urged parents to try and track down what their children are doing-especially this COVID-19 season when schools are closed.
“We ask parents to make sure they know where their children are. It’s your responsibility as a parent to monitor any child around you. This is a sad incident,” He said.
The 38 will be taken to a quarantine facility as the Government tests them to ascertain if any has the deadly coronavirus disease.
“We will take them to a quarantine facility, they get tested if they are sick. Let everybody know that this is a dangerous disease and let’s all adhere to the Governments regulations,” He added.
Cases of underage pregnancies are rising not only in Kisii but also in Kenya. Its 4 months now since schools were closed due to coronavirus fears.
The Ministry of Education announced that schools might be opening in September pushing students to spend another three months outside.
