A class five Pupil on Wednesday allegedly committed suicide after losing a battle to his sister. Reports say they were fighting over a television remote control.

The 11-year-old boy Canton Litiku who hails from Mulalio Village in Ikolomani Constituency Kakamega County is a pupil at Kakamega Hill School.

It’s said the two were watching a television program in the house before the disagreement of changing the channel erupted leading to an ugly ending.

The boy, after frustrations from his 8-year-old sibling took a leso and hanged himself in his bedroom. He said to have tied the shawl of the room where he bid goodbye to earthly life.

His parents Roselyne Mavia and Emmanuel Litiku told The Daily Clock on Thursday Morning that they found their son’s body hanging on a leso in his bedroom.

The area assistant Chief Sylvester Esabu called on parents to find ways of advising their kids on how to solve conflicts especially this long holiday of Coronavirus.

“Children are now at home due to COVID-19 and they watch television too much. The Government is offering lessons via TV and such disagreements between siblings are expected. Parents should advise their kids not to fight over channels especially when parents are away,” Said Chief.

The boy’s body was taken to the Kakamega County Referral Hospital morgue.
