Over 200 Nyabworoba families in Marani Sub County, Kisii County who were displaced by a massive landslide are spending cold nights outside Nyabworoba Secondary.

The families which were evacuated late last year after cracks developed say their houses were swept by floods Friday afternoon following the heavy rains pondering Kisii.

“Our houses have been swept. We are spending sleepless nights here since last year. We have neither food nor clothes. There are no beddings, the floor is too cold. We have no mosquito nets, our children are sick, we are sick ourselves. Look at that mama over there she is sick,” Narrated Jerusha Saisi.

The residents have accused both the County and the National government of neglecting them despite frequent appeals on media platforms.

“We have never seen anybody from the county. They set aside money for disaster, where does the money go? Ongwae our governor himself has never stepped foot here despite being his homeward. We only hear him traversing counties for BBI leaving us to die,” Said Samuel Mouko.

The Friday 1hr heavy remains swept houses, animals, and crops leaving a 2km wide massive landslide.
