Ongwae vows to change health sector in the Lake region

Kisii Governor James Ongwae on Tuesday presided over the groundbreaking and site handing-over ceremony for the construction of a new wing at Nduru level 4 hospital in South Mugirango.

Ongwae told the Media that the Project entails the construction of a three storey, theater block with both private ward and general wards wing of 16 and 84-bed capacities respectively.

”The 100-bed capacity facility will also have provisions for Dental unit, 3 Consultation rooms, Pharmacy, X-ray wing, Minor Theatre, 3 Laboratories, Physiotherapy rooms among other spaces,” He added.

Ongwae said other associated facilities shall include the Borehole drilling and water reticulation, Septic tank/Bio-digester and External civil work.

“My government is committed to actualizing Universal Health Care for all in line with President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Big 4 agenda,” He told the Media at Nyamarambe.

In the recently concluded Council of Governors elections, Ongwae was elected to Deputize Wycliffe Oparanya who was elected unopposed as the chairman for the second round.

The ODM governor was also elected to chair the Human Resources, Labour and Social Welfare Committee.

Ongwae whose legacy has settled on health said he will spearhead the docket and ensure that the region delivers on its mission.
