Kisumu County is set to name the Ksh 500 million market after president Uhuru Kenyatta, Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o has confirmed.
The project scheduled to be named as Uhuru Business Park Market will see 7,500 traders’ stalls and 2,500 Juakali shades on the 23 acres land recently handed over to the County Government of Kisumu by the national government.
Addressing residents on Tuesday at Juakali section, Governor Nyong’o revealed that the groundbreaking ceremony of the project will be presided over by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“The groundbreaking is scheduled to be presided over by the President Uhuru Kenyatta. I have interacted with residents to understand the challenges the project might face during the construction period,” Said Nyong’o.
The Governor later met the project’s implementation team who arrived Tuesday evening from Nairobi ahead of the site handing over slated for tomorrow Wednesday.
“My administration’s commitment to see the success of this project remains resolute. The completion of this project will provide safe spaces for trading, boost sales, enhance access of services under one roof and increase seller – buyer Interaction,” He said.
Kisumu which literally means a place of better trade and officially known as Kisumu City is the Kenyan inland Port city on Lake Victoria and the capital City of Kisumu County.
