For decades now, the Kisii Musicians have raised complaints over the Ministry of Culture, Sports, Youth and Social Services accusing it of failure to discharge its duties as required.

In response to the cry, the Ministry has now embarked on countywide recruitment campaign of all performing Artistes, Musicians, Choirs, Dancers, Comedians, Actors, Film Makers and Deejays.

In a letter seen by The Daily Clock from the Ministry addressed to all Sub county Cultural officers, has disclosed that the voluntarily exercise is aimed at addressing issues affecting the groups like how to get platform in Public forums.

The letter further says this will enable the Ministry serve them better and come up with programs to boost talents in Kisii.

The exercise which will kick off on Monday 2nd, requires the participating groups or individuals to unveil themselves at Culture hall Kisii with National Identity Cards and a copy of their art.

“This is in regard to the above exercise that we intend to carry out as from 2nd Monday December 2019. All performing Artistes listed above are required to come to the Gusii Culture Hall in Kisii Town with Their IDs and Copy(s) of their work for registration,” Read part of the letter.

“You are therefore requested to mobilize all performing Artistes in your sub county to participate in this voluntarily exercise. Make them understand that this exercise is for their welfare and it will enable us serve them well,” It continued.

The letter has further disclosed that the Ministry will conduct elections after the registration exercise on Friday 6th December 2019 to have dully elected officials representing the groups.
