Addressing Kegogi Residents on Tuesday during a public Baraza, The Kisii County commissioner Godfrey Kigochi revealed how Marani sub county has been recording the highest number of Defilement and rape cases.
“Its so shocking that the perpetrators are known and they are safeguarded by the family and community. Marani is the highest in Kisii on these cases. We send a strong warning to those who keep the cases private, “said Kigochi.
Kigochi said Courts get it hard to proceed with such cases because witnesses fail to turn up for proceedings after recording statements.
“I call upon the public to always report such matters and always show up in the court proceedings to help the court give justices to the victims,” He appealed
The sub county Director of education Simon Lodiang’ole said 200 girls tested pregnant in the recent test that was conducted where majority were six months pregnant meaning they were impregnated either late in December or January during the opening of schools.
