Kisii Governor James Ongwae who is serving his last term in office has disputed claims that Omogusii Registered Voters are close to 4M.
Ongwae’s statement at The Kisii ASK Show on Friday, has differed with his deputy Joash Maangi who has been rallying in Tanga Tanga forums claiming the correct number is close to 4M.
“I want to tell you today, that as Kisii Community both here in Kisii County and Nyamira, the Community in the local diaspora and the international Diaspora, as a voting block we are close to 2M,” Said Ongwae.
The two leaders’ sentiments have revealed the silent political conflict between them as 2022 succession draws near.
The outgoing Governor who seems to lose Nothing has thrown himself into 2022 campaign mood endorsing Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i for presidency against his deputy Governor a die hard of Dr William Ruto.
“We have reached a stage when we have come of age. And we are saying, If there is any Kisii that has come out or that looks like he is worth it, we are saying we are of age and we dont want to see any Kisii leaders talking negatively about Kisiis,” Warned Ongwae.
“Wherever those leaders are tell them off. And tell them if they continue like that then we start thinking it was a mistake we gave them that leadership,” Said Ongwae.
Joash Maangi has been both in Political Rallies and Media Platforms criticizing Dr. Matiangi over his ambition to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Ongwae was accompanied by Kitutu Chache North Member of Parliament Jimmy Nuru Angwenyi and Kitutu Chache South Member Parliament Richard Momaima Onyonka who also strongly backed up the sentiments.
