Surrounding locals of Kereri girls high school in Bobaracho ward Kisii have been accused of school land grabbing which has highly affected the institution with a population of over 1700 students.
The Principal Madam Teresa Atieno on Monday said the school has been affected by space due to students population.
Addressing students and Guests during the launching of a New dormitory and water tank, The principal requested the chief guest Interior Cabinet secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i to deal with the situation as soon as possible.
“Bwana CS we are experiencing shortage of land space. Some local neighbors have started tilling Our school land. I kindly plead with you to help us in solving the issue,” She said.
The cabinet Secretary for interior Dr. Fred Matiang’i who graced the colorful occasion on his part directed the county commissioner to deploy security officers in Kisii with immediate effect to arrest the culprits.
“This is very wrong. People cannot just come and start digging the school compound. If this is allowed to continue, tomorrow they will claim the land belongs to them. Bwana County commissioner arrest those people immediately,” He directed.
He said that people should not take advantage on school lands despite land being a challenge in the region he said he shall never allow this to happen.
