Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission detectives (EACC ) on Wednesday arrested six land registrar officers over embezzlement of public funds.
Those arrested are four staff officers, one broker and land registrar.
Addressing the press, South Nyanza Region Manager David Kanyara said they received allegations about three months ago about the embezzlement of the office on the land registrar in collusion with ghost workers and brokers embezzling government revenue by having irregular processing search certificates.
Mr Kanyara said the registrar uses wrong process to search for certificates, circumnavigating proper process to receive money prompting the government loosing its revenue.
Mr Kanyara said they have been doing undercover work for the past three months.
According to him it’s an ongoing process doing undercover work to arrest corrupt persons.
He urged public to work hand in hand with the EACC officers to provide information and report any form of corruption .
Those arrested will record statements and later arraigned in court after seeking consent from the director of public prosecution.
During the process they recovered Ksh 34,000 treated money in different denominations which they had circulated to arrest the suspects and will be used as an exhibit.
The six suspects will be charged with conspiracy to commit corruption offense, unlawful acquisition of public property, abuse of office, breach of trust and fraudulent payment of public revenue.
