A section of youths from Kisii county have called for investigation after more than 1,000 youths who attended the international youths day at Kisii school on Sunday were not given reimbursement of Ksh 1000 each as it was communicated through a text.
Adressing the media on Wednesday at A Kisii hotel led by Zack oanda, they said that it was unfortunately to learn that more than 1000 youths who were invited to attended the conference from 9 sub counties were not given any shilling.
According to Oanda they were invited through a text messages from the national Government and the logistics was that all the youths who were invited were supposed to be given transport allowance of Ksh 1000,but unfortunately they were not Paid meaning they were looted Ksh 1 Million.
“Today we have assembled here to ask this, why the committee which was led by Walter Nyambane paid other youths and refused to Pay 1000 youths from Kisii county,” asked oanda.
“This is indeed stealing from the us, it’s uncalled ,we did not expect this to happen in this era,” he added
Oanda has called on the cabinet secretary for youths gender and social services Margaret Kobia to address the issue by coming out clear to the unfortunate scenario.
“We are calling upon the cabinet secretary for youths to address this issue of her junior officers who can arrange a conference to rob money which was meant for the innocent youths,” he said
They also give out 24 hrs to Nyambane and the entire organizing committee to refund the money to the young people or will be business as unusual.
Oanda also said they are not going to sit and see others use them for their personal gain.
Another youth Rodgers Onyancha Said they are frustrated and has called upon president Uhuru Kenyatta to take action to officers who were involved.
“As the president instructed us to fight corruption during the day, We call upon the President to take action to this offices,” said Onyancha
“Corruption is corruption being small or big,we call investigation agents to investigate this matter and whoever will be found guilty should take full responsibility “
They have threatened to hold a demonstration if the alleged will not respond for the next 24hrs. They have challenged the county government to come in aid of helping them.
