Gusii water and sanitation company (GWASCO) have cautioned Kisii town residents and its outskirt not to use spring water at Nyanchwa area which is contaminated by the raw sewage.
The raw sewage has been flowing to this springs for almost a month now forcing residents to threaten the Gwasco officials who they said they have failed in their duties.
This has raised concern to the residents who mostly use the spring water for domestic purposes which the sewer line burst and channeled the raw sewage to this spring.
The spring serves Nyanchwa residents, Kisii primary pupils and also Kisii town residents serving more than 10,000 people.
Eng Hesborn Nanga GWASCO Managing Director cautioned residents not to use the spring water for domestic use because of the bacteria which may spread disease.
“You have to stop using this spring water till we fix the sewer line and ensure that the spring is clean and safe for consumption,” Mr Nanga warned.
The engineer blamed the Kenya urban roads who broke the sewer line in the ongoing road construction in the area.
“This has caused great inconvenience in our office and we assure residents that we will quickly fix the mess,” said Mr Nanga.
He said they have given out the designs to the contractor on the sewer lines which will enhance cleaning capacity.
