Last years financial Bursary cheques amounting to 7M from Bochari CDF Kitty have not yet been banked though the money was released, a report says.
The cheques are said to be withheld by Beneficiaries at middle level Colleges and universities who picked the collectively assigned cheques designated to different institutions.
Speaking in Bonchari at Suneka CDF hall during a public participation meeting on Wendesday, area member of Parliament Oroo Oyioka urged the beneficiaries to bank the cheques to allow this years funds to be deposited by National government.
“Some parents came, Some students came and claimed they come from the respective colleges and universities and they were given the collective cheques. Shocking, up to now since the cheques were picked they have not been banked. Why are you keeping the cheques,” Revealed Oyioka.
Oyioka further said the Kitty will not receive any funds until the previous money has been fully utilized citing increased demand and asked residents to give a way forward.
“This financial year has arrived but still last years money is still lying in the bank. We cannot be given any money until we have utilized the idle cash.You cry give us bursaries, but when they come you pick the cheques and store them. What do you really want,” Asked Oyioka.
The newly elected Law maker has promised residents of introducing a staff training institution and a sports complex to assist youths nature their talents.
“This financial year i will call you here again to advoce on projects. We want to start setiing up completely finshed projects per ward until we finish. That can help,” Said Oyioka.
The legislator has requested whoever who picked the cheques to go and bank them as soon as possible to give way for new funds to be deposited.
