Is Religion the basis of Corruption in Kenya?

Share this story

Of all institutions, religion is the oldest and strongest institution on earth. With every society identifying itself with religion; it’s believed that religion is the foundation of all human activities and behaviors excluding corruption. Being a universal institution to both civilized and uncivilized societies, it has a great impact to our way of life. Also it holds a great influence to other institutions like the government which at least all religions agree that the all government leaders are chosen by God first.

Religion being a whole part of believing in and worshiping of a superman controlling power i.e God or gods, then it is the foundation of governing institutions on earth. So it must have and indeed it has a great influence on socio-economic and spiritual life happenings to us Kenyans. Now what I don’t understand is the Kenyan society which I think and everyone knows it is; majority of Kenyans pay allegiance to Christianity and Islam while the minority pay their other religious sects that I don’t understand their teaching but even if that is the case I know all religions be it Christianity or Islam, both teach and believe the same concept of faith though they slightly differ.

Going through the Religious Numerical Facts am really confused because what the statistics show and the current way of life we Kenyans are living show and brings a different definition of religion (a definition that I have no phrase to write it). The real picture paints the real religion black and dark. Just think of a country with an approximate of 85%, 10% and 2% Christians, Muslims and traditionalists respectively, assuming none of the religions corrupts its followers in any aspect: what do you think should our country be like? And now what is it like? Its high time that must find another reasonable term to replace religion in Kenya.

Dear, you the 84.8% Kenyan Christian population.

Am so sorry to tell you this but it is all that I am able to tell; it’s truly from my inner being. It is so sad that you are the majority Kenyans yet the country has been dominated by all dirt call it all; economic corruption, social corruption and spiritual corruption. How can you afford to vote in all those able looters to government? For now you need to revisit your religious ideologies then seek what the you need to not what you want to do.

“When I see you in church benches,

Satan is whom I see. For your deeds

 – same as his;

Your deeds more than evils

Your actions, worse than the devil’s

Your morals same to Satan’s

Seeing you from hearthenic cliff;

More than the devil you look.”

 I hope you will understand and forgive me.
