Kisii County residents on Thursday took into Kisii town streets to demonstrate against poor service delivery by the lands registry office.
Led by Jimmy Momanyi the chairman of Gusii Governance watch, they accused the Kisii land registrar Steve Mogaka for lack of customer care ethics citing he handles customers with unethical language and harassing them.
According to Momanyi the registrar offers services to residents at the counter front office where some residents with matters of risk and need security over land are not addressed.
“We expect the register to serve people from his office and let the receptionist do the front office work but we get that the registrar is acting as the receptions as he shouts here and there to us,” noted Momanyi
Rachel Otundo also said that the government should employ at least three land registrars like other counties to help in quick service delivery.
“Serving as from the counter is treating us as second class citizens as he serves a group of specific people in his office,” said Miss Otundo.
The residents noted that the county surveyor officer Mr Christopher Kamau absconds his office duties and reports to the office once a week
“We want our government to know that the surveyor in kisii county come to the office ones a week making the land survey work at stand still thus delaying services to Kenyans, ” They Said..
Kisii county minister for lands Moses Onderi said he will conduct investigations and write a report concerning the said allegations.
“Why do you want to be served from the office and not at the counter, because I believe they are the best services,” Said Onderi.
