Directorate of Criminal investigations has been conducting investigations into the NYS Scandal. This is the first Phase of the investigations involving Ksh. 468,996,808 which was paid out to ten companies says Mr Noordin Haji the DPP .
Reading his statement today at NSSF Building in Nairobi, The DPP has added that he has perused all the files and has found sufficient evidence to press criminal prosecution against the suspects.
“The DCI submitted the investigation files to my office from 8th of May 2018 for perusal and advice. Upon perusal of the files in consideration of the evidence, i found sufficient evidence upon which today’s a criminal prosecution against the suspects. In order to strengthen the case, i returned the files to DCI to cover some critical areas. The DCI Resubmitted the files upon careful perusal and evaluation of the same, am satisfied that the evidence is sufficient to warrant urgent prosecution”
Mr Haji said the list of those to be prosecuted includes 40 public servants, 24 directors and proprietors of business entities.
Public Service and Youth Secretary Lillian Omollo who today presented herself to police at the DCI headquarters in Nairobi and NYS director Richard Ndubai are among those who will be arraigned in court tomorrow.
